Every day we are hearing calls for us to invest all of our energy and resources into something. It can be exhausting. And then, along comes Jesus asking us to love God with all our HEART, SOUL, MIND, AND STRENGTH. Why four ways? What happens if we withhold one or more and how does that affect our
relationship with God? The first impression is that he is increasing the burden in our lives by asking so much. And yet, Jesus also said in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to Me,all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” So he must have meant something else. Since this is one of the two Great Commandments, it behooves us to discover what he meant. This is not an added drain on our lives, it is an enrichment. Let’s discover what it means and how we do it.
