Our Call to End Gun Violence

by | May 25, 2022

A voice was heard in Ramah,
wailing and loud lamentation,
Rachel weeping for her children;
she refused to be consoled,
because they are no more.
– Matthew 2:18

We grieve as horrific gun violence continues to harm communities across the United States. We pray for the families, friends, and communities of the victims in the Uvalde, Texas school shooting. Please take a moment to join me in praying:

Pray for their comfort.
Pray for relief of the unimaginable pain they are suffering.
Pray for the pain they will suffer for years to come.
Pray for the fear and grief that continues to haunt families throughout our nation.
Pray that our nation’s leaders will take the necessary action to end gun violence.
Pray that God would show us as Wellspring how to faithfully respond to our call to be peacemakers.

Prayer is vitally important and powerful. God also calls us to be people of actions. As United Methodists, we recognize that gun violence has become an all-too-frightening phenomenon. Now more than ever let’s stand together in “Our Call to End Gun Violence” found in our 2016 Book of Resolutions, #3428. I invite you to pray and explore how you can respond to this violent epidemic.
