‘UMCOR – This could be a new acronym for you. It stands for United Methodist Committee on Relief, our denominational “arm” that reaches into the world as an first response to disasters. UMCOR is immediately on the scene for emergency relief for victims of floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, and many other emergency situations. UMCOR does not leave when the initial threat is over, but stays for the “long haul” recovery.
For the next 2 weeks, we are giving you an opportunity to assist UMCOR with the recovery in the aftermath of the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria. If you would like to make a special offering to support this mission in Turkey and Syria, there will be a basket for donating in person during our Sunday worship service which starts at 9:30am. You may also donate online through the form below. If writing a check, please write your check to “Wellspring UMC” with “UMCOR – Turkey and Syria Mission” on the Memo line (Mailing Address: 1217 Wolf Road Oswego, IL 60543). All donations to this need will go directly to assistance for the victims. No administration costs are paid by your donation.
Most importantly, please pray for the people of Turkey and Syria who have suffered from several natural catastrophes in recent years.
